2009 to 2012

Today,

January 17th, 2011 we adopted 34 animals so far!We had the chance to rescue all our horses, lamas, donkeys, pigs and goats from the slaughter. We built a big shelter for the horses and donkeys and a smaller one for the old animals.

For our helpers from around the world we finished constructions on a small and a big cabin. To seperate the new animals from the others for the first couple of week we put up lot of fences.  For me and my horse training a round pen and riding arena is very important. Due to their experiences a lot of our animals hated people. After weeks and weeks of training and giving love they start to trust us again - some of them earlier,

some broken hearts need several months to recover.During summertime we host lots of helpers from around the world.

Wwoofer and X-Help are organizations which connect us with them.

These mostly wonderful people work for room and board and without them it would be very hard for me and my husband.

Nevertheless its not easy cause some of them never worked on a farm or in the garden before.

We introduce them to different tasks - sometimes this takes longer and three weeks later new helpers arrive and the game starts again.

We try to look after everybody and help them wherever we can.Daily cooking for many people is a real challenge for me and cost a lot of energy.

Always the question: What do I cook today??? In Canada groceries are getting quite expensive and I am very thankful for our big vegetable garden.

I try to serve good food to all our helpers - we pay with food so everybody should enjoy it. Besides the big breakfast we serve lunch (mostly soups),

cake in the afternoon and a rich supper. Everyone helps everyone - thats the primary focus.

Very often we have work in the woods cause we need new pastures for our animals. This kind of work is hard for everyone.Building fences, cleaning the pastures and shelters, brushing and feeding the animals as well as the daily horse training is very important. Gardening, building the guest cabins and so on...

Most of our evenings we spent all together in front of the camp fire or in the Tipi. We always have fun and forget the hard work during the day.  During the weekend our helpers spend there free time riding or hiking. For my husband and me this is our free time, not from work but from beeing with so many people. Sometimes we need time for us to talk about random things or just to be together in silence.

Even during the days off we have to do duties like feeding the animals etc., but most of our helpers had no problem with that.

There are always exceptions.  for me personally it is very important to spend time with lovely people. They give me the strength I need.

receiving a smile in the morning can sometimes save your day and I can forget all our prolems for a while. Money is always a big Problem.

We need lots food for the animals, building materials which is very expensive in Canada.

We also need lots of new things like a tractor to handle all the horse manure. at the moment we use a wheelbarrow but this is so hard work.To bring the water to the house we also have to work hard. This is a problem cause the way from the water source to the house is to long to get enough pressure and sometimes the energy turns off. We get our power from 6 solar pannels and a small wind mill. But we need more solar pannels and more batteries to save the energy we produce. We need more water sources and we want to build a wash house. Mostly our helpers use cold water. just one Camper provides warm water for shower. Really, we can say that we live in the wilderness but most of our helpers where blessed and happy. this year we plan to build more shelters for the animals. If we have enough money we want to build the wash house. Some of our friends support us, they pay 20 Euro per month for a animal sponsorship. At the moment there are not enough but what we get helps us a lot.  Of course we never be like Gut Aiderbichl, but we wont give up to find more sponsors. Not many people know us. Duing summer I dont have time for Marketing. It very hard to find sponsors cause most of them want a place like Gut Aiderbichl with all their celebreties. I am very happy that Gut Aiderbichl gives home to so many animals - its way easier with celebreties .Finally I am too proud to ask for money and I dont want to write about horrible things cause people dont want this. I try it positive, showing beautiful pictures and slideshows of heavens gate. I hope to find more sponsors and donators with a heart for us and our animals. i will never give up hope that we will receive help one day. I am focused.  Lots of people are helping animals and give all they have and they never receive anything from others. I honour them, being so thankful. Through all my animals I met so many wonderful people. Once a women, I still dont know her name, donated 1000 $.

Through this donation we had the chance to rescue Nikita and to buy some building materials.

I believe she was an angel and I will never forget what she did. They live with us these angels,

I feel them every day. They are with me when I am tired, they help to continue my work,

event now writing this words they are with me. Maybe an angel reads my lines and helps me, who knows. Maybe we will have a tractor soon and maybe we wont have problems to feed our animals during the winter. We always have to call and pay our neighbors to keep our driveway clean from the snow. Maybe there is an angel somewhere who is sending some solar pannels and batteries. Maybe there is an angel somewhere who has a heart for animals and is willing to help us. winter is long. My husband and I are trying to handle everything alone. We cant have helpers during winter cause we dont have a cabin with water and power. It would be a big help for us if we could host some helpers during the winter. I am sure that we will have some changes in the future.
