1994 to 2008 - A dream came true

Sadly every year there are a lot more animal-babies that need help. For three years we have been working with families , who will take the babies out of our hands to give them their bottles. Once they start being able to eat on their own they are returned to us. Here they get the opportunity to experience freedom while still being cared for, this goes on for a year until they are reintegrated into nature. Sadly we are seriously lacking in helpers to bottle feed, and watch the babies. This is often a financial problem. Barely anyone is willing to work for nothing in return, regardless of the good intentions, since Canadians are looking to work hard to sustain a high quality over life over helping out wild animals. For many years we raised raccoons and marmots. We were very happy on our land in Quebec, but sadly over time more and more forests where being cut down, many properties were sold, and our lake was now open for the use of motorboats and everything changed. It was no longer possible to reintegrate these animals without fear. People had once again ruined a retreat for wild animals. Due to this we decided to relocate. We found a place to take our animals where nature was still nature, and wild animals could still live freely. So we bought a RV to further explore Canada. We love Canada, but never had a chance to experience anything out side of Quebec since we were always raising babies. After packing up our two raccoons and our dogs we were ready to hit the road. We drove all the way to Alberta, where one look at the mountains had us set on moving here. Before we could relocate we had to sell our old house in Quebec, which proved to be much harder than expected. 4000 kilometers across Canada we finally discovered a place that gave us all the time in the world for us and our animals. Here in Alberta we met a lot of people that told us about the life stock slaughter here, in order to get rid of excess horses, cattle, lamas, and sheep who were all searching for a safe home. As a result we knew we had to open a rescue for these animals. But How? We spent two years searching for the right place. It had to be far away from any farmers or ranchers, have a river running through it, be surrounded by trees and located near the foot of the Rockies. We had many offers, but they all had their flaws, some where to expensive, others surrounded by farms. In our second year of searching our prayers were finally heard. We put our old house up for sale and drove across Canada once again to settle into our new home. We were on our way to live out our destiny. As we viewed the property for the first time we knew it was perfect for us and our animals, we put in an offer right away. It was accepted, we couldn't believe our luck. We spend two weeks at our new property, exploring our surroundings, and knew that this was the perfect place for our animal rescue. This place had been untouched by humans, therefore their was no house, nothing, it was incredibly spiritual. Finally a year later we made the big move, with our house in Quebec still pending. Everything got harder. But we never gave up hope of our rescue, for all animals in need. In may of 2008, Heavens Gate animal rescue was brought to life.
